Medical Assistant The objective of the Medical Assistant Program is to train students to acquire satisfactory skills and demonstrate competence in a variety of medical office procedures and laboratory techniques. The Medical Assistant Program will prepare students in both Clinical and Administrative duties. Administrative duties may include answering the telephones, greeting patients, updating and filing patient medical records, filling out insurance forms, scheduling appointments and handling medical billing and bookkeeping. Clinical duties may include taking medical histories and recording vital signs; explaining treatment procedures to patients; collecting and preparing laboratory specimens; changing dressings and sterilizing medical instruments; preparing patients for examination and assisting the physician during the examination; Perform First Aid, CPR, EKG and Phlebotomy. Graduates from the program will be able to obtain an entry-level position as a Medical Assistant, Medical Office Assistant, Medical Lab Assistant, EKG Technician, Phlebotomist or Hospital Assistant.
